Check out this stock footage from Columbia pictures in 1946, showing the industrial buildings along the SP tracks from Glendale to Van Nuys. It's got auto wrecking yards, packing houses, building supply wholesalers, and oil depots.
I'm annoyed I don't model Los Angeles today.
